5 tips that will help you fall back in love with yourself

Life can be hard, and there are days when it feels like giving up would be easier.

The baggage that makes you fall out of love with yourself and your goals starts in grade school and carries into adulthood. Difficult situations and people who put you down can cause you to start listening to your doubt, fear, and self-limiting beliefs. Loving yourself is so important. If you don’t, you’ll never have the confidence to do all you want to do in your life. You’ll stay within your comfort zone and coast through a just good enough life just because you’re afraid of failure. Life is short and it passes quickly. How we live and spend each day is important. Self-love opens you up to chasing big dreams and making them your reality.

Here are 5 tips that will help you fall back in love with yourself:

1. Quit a job that doesn’t fulfill you.

Most of us will spend more than 40 hours each week at work. That’s a huge chunk of time spent doing something we either enjoy or despise. How you feel about your work will carry over into other areas of your life. It may take you years to land your dream job or start a business that you love, but the sooner you start, the sooner you can wake up every day and not dread going to work.

2. Stop taking your health for granted.

Your health is such an important area of your life. When you take it for granted, you're not truly living a long and energized existence. An unhealthy routine will cause you to feel down, and you won’t have the energy to do everything it takes to be happy and fulfilled. Pay attention to the effects that the foods you eat and the exercises you do have on your body.

3. Get honest about ending or moving forward in your relationship.

Love can take us to places we didn’t know were possible, but it can also cause anger and depression. At some point, you have to be honest with yourself and your partner and acknowledge whether your relationship isn't working. If your relationship is fulfilling, always continue to improve it and put in the hard work to make it grow. If it isn’t, you have to make the hard choice that will free you in the long run.

4. Spend some time each day getting inspired all over again.

In today's Information Age, you can read an inspiring book, watch a video, or listen to a podcast anytime — all from your smartphone. We have access to inspiration 24/7, and it’s important to set aside time every day — preferably at the start of your day — to utilize it. There are roadblocks on the path to freedom and fulfillment, but certain enlightening content can help you overcome the barriers.

5. Don’t conform to what society or others think you should be doing with your life.

When you step outside of what other people consider a “normal” path, you will experience resistance. When you disrupt certain traditional lines of thought, you'll often encounter fear and a lack of understanding. But this is YOUR life and you should spend it doing the things that are important to you. Don’t try to conform because it feels easier.

You may not be as tall, smart, or attractive as someone else, but you don’t have to be. You are unique and amazing. You are the only one of you in this world, and that should make you smile. You are a shining star with the power to bring light to someone’s darkness. Love Maria X
